How to play

One week per click

One press of Play is one week. Everything else follows from that. These are the game's own help topics, the ones you find under Settings › How to play.

Your first hour

A new career starts as a chat with your assistant. He asks your name, offers three clubs from the bottom division (or a club of your own: name, colours and crest), and asks how much the board will give you. Then he walks you through three missions: the board's targets, your lineup, and a scout's first mission, each with a Go that opens the right page. A friendly, your first fans and a challenge follow: win three of your first five league games and a striker joins. If you know the game, skip it all with one tap.

A few tips

  • Check the window. Players only move while a transfer window is open: the summer window to league week 3, the winter window to week 12. The Transfers tab shows whether it is open.
  • Mind the gap to potential. A young player far below his potential, starting every week, grows fastest. A player near it has little left to gain.
  • Renew early. A contract that runs out in the summer costs you a player for nothing. Your assistant reminds you five league games before the end.
  • Build what pays back. Commercial facilities pay for themselves at a big ground, less so at a small one; the Facilities summary says whether yours do. The training ground, scouts and medical centre pay back in players.
  • Keep the board happy. Standard targets are the safe choice. Debt and missed targets cost confidence; confidence too low means the sack.
